ਪਿੰਗਲ ਅਤੇ ਅਰੂਜ਼ ਬਾਰੇ ਡੂੰਘਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਚਾਹਵਾਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਕੁੱਝ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵੀ ਲਿਖ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ। ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਨਿਊ ਬੁੱਕ ਕੰਪਨੀ, ਮਾਈ ਹੀਰਾਂ ਗੇਟ ਜਲੰਧਰ ਤੋਂ ਮਿਲ਼ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਧੰਨਵਾਦ।
1. ਪਿੰਗਲ ਤੇ ਅਰੂਜ਼ – ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਜੋਗਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ -ਇਹ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਭ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਤਮ ਕਿਰਤ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਇੱਕ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਹੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਨੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਪੜ੍ਹੋ।
2. ਸੰਪੂਰਨ ਪਿੰਗਲ ਅਤੇ ਅਰੂਜ਼ – ਸੁਲੱਖਣ ਸਰਹੱਦੀ -ਇਸ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਿੰਗਲ ਅਤੇ ਅਰੂਜ਼ ਦੇ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਰਟਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਖਾ ਕੇ ਸੌਖਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।)
3. ਗ਼ਜ਼ਲ – ਅਰੂਜ਼ ਤੇ ਪਿੰਗਲ – ਡਾ. ਐੱਸ ਤਰਸੇਮ – ਇਸ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਰੂਜ਼ ਦੇ ਅਰਬੀ ਦੇ ਰੁਕਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਦਲ ਕੇ ਸੌਖਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
4. ਪਿੰਗਲ ਦਰਪਣ – ਡਾ. ਜਸਵੰਤ ਬੇਗੋਵਾਲ – ਇਹ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਪਿੰਗਲ ਬਾਰੇ ਅਣਮੁੱਲੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਉੱਤਮ ਸਰੋਤ ਹੈ।

But just 1 question : Is there any kind of limitation k ਇੱਕ line ਵਿੱਚ ਏਨੀ ਮਾਤਰਾ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਜਾਂ ਏਨੀ ਮਾਤਰਾ ਤੋਂ ਘੱਟ ਮਾਤਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ? ਨਾਲੇ ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਟੱਪੇ ਵਿੱਚ 4 lines ਨੇ ਤਾਂ ਏਦਾ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਕਿ ਪਹਿਲੀ 2 lines ਦੀ ਮਾਤਰਾ same ਹੋਵੇ ਤੇ ਅਖੀਰਲੀ 2 lines ਦਿ ਮਾਤਰਾ same ਹੋਵੇ ?
Jaskirat Singh Sandhu: No there is no limit. But do not sweat about that yet. After four or five videos you will feel fully comfortable to tackle such questions on your own.

Dear Param Thanks for noticing. There are three types of Chhands: Gan Chhands, Varanik Chhands and Matrik Chhands. In Varanik chhands we count Varans not Matras. Korda is a varnik chhand with 13 varans in each line. but its end is fixed, guru-laghu-guru. when I changed it to guru-guru as the word ‘mele’ suggests. It falls apart.
so pl tell us how we can count the varns..thanx

ਵਰਣਿਕ ਛੰਦਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਤਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਗਿਣਦੇ। ਕੋਰੜਾ, ਕਬਿਤ, ਸਵੈਯਾ ਵਗੈਰਾ ਵਰਣਿਕ ਛੰਦ ਹਨ। ਕੋਰੜੇ ਦੇ 13 ਵਰਣ ਤੇ ਅੰਤ ਗੁਰੂ-ਲਘੂ-ਗੁਰੂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਬਿਤ ਦੇ 31 ਵਰਣ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਵਿਸਰਾਮ 8,8,8,7 ਤੇ ਅੰਤ ਗੁਰੂ. ਵਰਣਿਕ ਸਵੈਯੇ ਦੇ 23 (ਆਮ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ) ਵਰਣ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

IN the Gan Chhands we count Gans, which means we count matras according to their sequence. It is a little advance technique. I didn’t dwell on it too much as there is no Gan Chahand in Punjabi. Eventually I will expand on it.

veerji im from malaysia. currently our malaysian sikhs made an effort and set up GURU GRANTH SAHIB ACADEMY in Malaysia and expanding their sewa to Australia and other nearby countries. Their aim is to make sikhs read and understand gurbani..Im a student myself. In my last week class my masterji explain that our gurbani is written in pingle viakaran and what is legu and dirg( u call it guru) and how to count it. it did not understand it at all as i have not heard of it at all. its something new. then i google it and came across ur site. its exactly what my masterji was explaining. thanks alot. i would like to further my knowledge about this so that i can understand GURBANI better.
